About Laura

I have had an unusual range of training in both mainstream medical settings and in natural healing modalities.

I love bringing these together in my care for women!

My first degree was in Psychology/Biology at Duquesne University, where I graduated magna cum laude. I graduated in 2007 from the nurse-midwifery program at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), then spent seven years as a homebirth midwife at Vivante and Trillium Midwifery.  After my third child was born, I switched to working for a few years at the OB/Gyn Women’s Healthcare Associates clinic in Oregon City, and at their Midwifery Birth Center.

I feel fortunate to be able to bring together the strengths of my very different work experiences – combining the skills and modern medical techniques from the mainstream clinical setting, with the time for individualizing treatment, and personal connection of the smaller practices.

For more than 20 years I have been studying, using, and recommending herbs and supplements.  In 2020, I completed the year-long Women’s Integrative & Functional Medicine Professional Training Program taught by Aviva Romm, MD. Since then, I have been working for Aviva on her Mama Pathways program, providing pregnancy and postpartum information and support to moms worldwide.

Before becoming a midwife, I graduated from the Toronto School of Homeopathic Medicine (now called Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine). My latest endeavor is working toward certification as a herbal educator.

I love to travel, and spent some years exploring the world. I lived for a couple years in Turkmenistan (in the Peace Corps), and spent nearly 12 months in India, where I worked and studied at a charitable hospital. I was raised in Pittsburgh, and lived for a few years in Toronto, Canada. I now share my life with my beautiful, energetic family of three kids and husband.  I spend much of my free time playing cello and walking trails in a rich forest, which continually renews and inspires me.

It is an honor to be in the sacred space of serving women, and I approach this responsibility dedicated to providing up-to-date, informed, compassionate, and respectful care. I look forward to working with you!”

About Sierra Moore | Office Manager | Laura’s Assistant

Hi, I’m Sierra, the assistant at Vibrant Women’s Health! I have 3 beautiful kiddos and a wonderful husband. On my free time I love to go on nature walks with my family and explore. I also love learning about all things pregnancy, birth, and herbal medicine related. I’m so happy to be a part of the team and I’m so happy to be working with you all!

Birth Assistants

We are incredibly fortunate to have many excellent midwives in our community! At every birth we have a second midwife come around transition (before pushing), and stay throughout the birth and postpartum recovery. Having a fully qualified and certified second set of hands is important, especially in a case where we need interventions.

The second midwife we choose depends on their availability around the due date window, and the area in which a family lives. We try to have the second midwife be geographically close in case things progress quickly. Typically clients meet the 2nd midwife at the home visit at 36 weeks, and more frequently if desired. We love our support team!
